The 90's were magical years in my book. The music that came in the 90's is irreplaceable. Of course at that time I was still in middle school and couldn't really admit to others that I secretly crushed over Sheryl Crows songs, and had a weak spot for Matchbox 20.
Loving the Backstreet boys is a given for most girls of that time, including myself. Things I hated or told myself I hated when I was younger turned out to be things I truly loved like Metallica's "Memory Remains". I feel like the 90's represented an inbetween of the sepia toned past and the overly saturated pop culture we are bombarded with today.
It's glaring in the music videos. It almost seems as if there was a cynicism within the videos. Examples like Black Hole Sun by Soundgarden and Sour Girl by the Stone Temple Pilots. That simmer of a snippy angst towards society was at least vocalized. Only thing I've heard lately aside from Adele's inspirational break up songs is this:
Somehow I felt that the songs in the 90's left me with something to think about or food for thought if you please - maybe that's where I'm still at, so I will leave you all with this video:
