Random Acts of Kindness

Have you ever had that moment where someone just makes your day?

I've got a handful of those experiences in my pocket. Although the realist in me would like to believe it was all just coincidence - but the child within me likes to think it isn't a "coinkidink". We can call it Karma, or God or Voodoo - whatever makes your life flow more seamlessly I say.

Some of my most memorable moments were:

1. On a considerably depressing day I was out with a friend at the fountain at the Seattle Center. We were sunbathing and just laying down then a kid comes out of nowhere and looks at my face and says "What are you doing? Why aren't you in the water?!"
So he grabs my hand and runs me through the fountain a couple of times while his mother joyfully yelled at him saying "You're so cRaZy!!!".

2. This also happened in Seattle as I was crossing a sidewalk and it started to rain. A lady pulled me under her umbrella as we crossed the street till I could walk where my head would be covered.

3. I was feeling incredibly homesick a couple of years ago and I walked into a Burrito place on 4th and Wall ST and because I was a bit of a regular the guy gave me a burrito on the house.

4.This happened about a month ago actually - it was my birthday and I was quite miserable. I had to present in a class that day and I felt my video critique was filled with an awkward silence. On my way home at 8pm I decided to stop by wholefoods and get myself a small birthday cake or rather several slices of cake.

I stopped by the bakery to see a small assortment there and the man who worked there asked "Are all those for you?" and I said "Yes! It's my birthday!" So he looked me and said "Really is that true? Hold on a min." I saw him wander off into the back and look around for something. He then came back and said "Pick out a cake and then pick out a piece of chocolate for free." I picked a tiramisu cake and a peanut butter cup. He then gave me a small pink glittery candle and wished me a happy birthday.
I felt like a little kid who never got a Christmas present before.

5. Yesterday I ran into one of my former teachers as I was leaving class. He was so excited to see me back and told me how proud he was of me for coming back. He complimented me so much on my character. Which was something I needed desperately. He asked me how my art was coming along and I had to be honest I haven't felt super artistic for a while now. So he said "Then it will find you." Perhaps that was more of a Yoda moment but it was enlightening.

6. Today Yellow Leaf had a pancakes n' bacon cupcake ! AND AND AND I got my new cellphone cover courtesy of Patrick!!!

I still have 20 pages of a pirated book I have to read for school - so I'm going to get on with that soon.
HOWEVER -  I am curious! everyone has these moments of "magic". If you want to tell me about it go ahead and do so in the comments below!
